According to recent research, PP is considered a better material for recycling compared to PET. Although PP is often thought of as “one of the least recycled post-consumer plastics,” it can be easily separated from other plastics during the recycling process. In contrast, while PET may be pure and clear, making it more challenging to mix with other polymers, it has some limitations when it comes to recycling due to its molecular structure. Additionally, the regulations that control which polymers are added to PP have improved, resulting in fewer contaminations in the recycling stream. Therefore, PP is becoming a more sustainable choice for recycling.
